We got up this morning and took big sister, Tobi, to band camp. Stopped at the post office on the way home to pick up stamps and put some long overdue thank you cards in the mail. Here Thomas is enjoying relaxing in his boppy pillow for a few minutes before going back to sleep.

While he sleeps today, I am going to sew some new curtains for his room. I found a great deal on some cute valances yesterday. They are blue and green and orange gingham and stripes. Just what we needed to bring some blue into Thomas’s all green room. I like the white chenille valances that I already had though, so I think I’m going to combine the two.

Can you tell I’m feeling very domestic lately. So unlike me. It is amazing what a baby can do to a person.

When we were discharged from the hospital last Wednesday, we were given orders to visit our pediatrician in 1 to 2 days to make sure Thomas wasn’t too jaundiced. We went on Thursday and Dr. Ojeda said Thomas looked like a healthy boy and wasn’t concerned about him being too jaundiced. He told us to have Thomas lie in indirect sunlight for a little while each day. So, here he is spending some time in the sun.

They took little Thomas out of the room for a few hours yesterday so I was able to get some knitting time. I used it to put the finishing stitches on his mitered square blanket.

Our night time nurse, Roz, has been showing off his lattice blanket to all the nurses, and everyone who comes in comments on how beautiful it is. I’ve started knitting a little green cardigan for Thomas to wear this fall.

Thomas Asher Redden was born July 21st at 8:42 am. He weighed exactly 9 pounds and was 20 1/2 inches long.

This afternoon I sat down to relax and sew some squares together on the mitered baby blanket. Will came in and asked if I would show him how to do it. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to show him, but figured he wouldn’t spend much time on it. I was wrong. He picked it right up and went to work. So, I started sewing two more together. We took a break to make dinner and then after eating he picked it up again. We sat and sewed squares together. Now we have it in 3 sections and Will is working on putting two of those together already.

I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up some supplies for an in-service I am leading next week. While I was there, I decided to use a gift card. So, I came home with a cute little travel swing for the baby. Of course, Will couldn’t wait to help me put it together. It was so cute. When we finished, he stood up and said, “I can’t wait to have a baby brother … or sister.”

I thought a colorful mitered square blanket would be perfect for the baby. I think it was January when Beth and I made a trip to Angel Hair Yarn to pick out all the colors. She took some with her and helped me get started. I took a break from it to make the lattice blanket that I posted a few weeks ago. Soon as the lattice blanket was done, I figured I better get busy on this one. I am beginning to be able to see the end in sight. I’ve sewn the squares together into 5 bigger squares. I’m still knitting the last miter for the 6th square. Maybe I’ll actually get finished before the baby gets here.

Good news. I’ve been doing so well on my diet that the doctor says there is no need to induce early. I’m still only dilated to 1 centimeter and he says my measurements are great. He said that he might induce on the 21st just because we live so far away from the hospital, but we will talk about that next week.
