Poetry Friday

Love this poem I discovered this week. The Pink Car by Mark Halliday. You can find it on pages 8-9 of Poetry 180 the anthology of modern poetry by Billy Collins. (Thanks Beth for loaning me this book. I’m enjoying reading a poem a day.) I don’t really feel right posting the entire poem here without permission from the poet, so I will post a few stanzas and suggest you find the poem.

The second stanza:

Why is it pink? The question does not come up.
The pink car is just what it is and glad so.
Pink is its own color, of its own, being that.

The final stanza:

Stopping quiet but ready to go, to go
and be the pink car which is all it wants.
And when will I, when can
I ever be the man impied by this sedan?”
